Park puts club before country
Park Ji-sung is happy to put club before country after being left out of South Korea's latest squad to focus on his Manchester United career.
The energetic midfielder is an important member of Sir Alex Ferguson's plans and has been promised a new contract by the Old Trafford boss.
Park looked set to miss the opening match of the new Premier League season with his country due to tackle Paraguay in Seoul on 12th August.
But national team boss Huh Jung-moo, whose side have already secured their place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, will not demand the presence of the popular Red Devils player.
Park began his pre-season training late following his World Cup commitments and a further absence would have affected his chances
of regular action at the beginning of the new campaign.
"There is a full list of fixtures and Manchester United have made new signings so the start of the season is very important for Park," said Huh.
While Park may be remaining in England, many of Ferguson's players will be heading straight from Sunday's Charity Shield against Chelsea at Wembley to international commitments.
Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick are expected to be among those involved in England's friendly with Holland in Amsterdam.
Ben Foster should also be included given his return to fitness, while it will be intriguing to see whether Michael Owen is selected by Fabio Capello following his surprise move to the Red Devils.
