Park pleads with pal Tevez to stay with Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Ji-sung Park has urged Carlos Tevez to remain patient and stay at Old Trafford.
The Argentina striker's two-year loan spell expires at the end of this season and, as yet, no agreement has been struck for a permanent deal.
Speculation is mounting that next Wednesday's Champions League final against Barcelona in Rome could be Tevez's last game in a United shirt, with other Barclays Premier League clubs ready to make a move for the 25-year-old.
However, Park remains hopeful his close friend and team-mate will stay.
'It would be disappointing not just for me but for everyone involved at Manchester United because he is one of the best players and we need that,' he said.
'Hopefully he will stay. This season when he has come on the pitch he has scored a lot of goals and helped the team. He has saved the team. Only Carlos can do that. He works hard and he scores a lot of goals.
'If he does not like his role maybe he can move but if he can stand it he just has to show his ability on the pitch and he will get chances.
'Manchester United have a lot of games and no one can play every game in one season, it is too hard. He should be patient.'
Park has drawn on his own previous frustrations in his career to have probably his best season for United and one which has guaranteed him a place in the squad against Barcelona next week.
He was omitted 12 months ago when the Red Devils beat Premier League rivals Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out in Moscow - a decision he found hard to take and one manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted 'almost broke my heart'.
'It was very disappointing last year because players want to play in big games like the Champions League final,' said Park.
'If they do not play it hurts. It was heartbreaking, the biggest disappointment of my career.
'But after that I believed Manchester United would again reach the final and I worked hard and now I have one more chance and this time it is different to last season.'
Prior to that Park had endured a tough introduction to European football in Holland at PSV Eindhoven back in 2003.
