Ozil not thinking of Real exit

Real Madrid playmaker and Manchester United target Mesut Ozil has rubbished speculation linking him with a move away from the Bernabeu.

Ozil has been heavily criticised by the country's press in recent weeks, with even manager Jose Mourinho suggesting the German "lacks quality".

United are reported be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, but Ozil does not want to leave the Bernabeu.

He told German newspaper Bild: "When you play for Real Madrid you cannot think of anything else. I know nothing and I have no reason to leave." Ozil lost his starting place for Real's 4-1 Champions League win in Ajax last week but returned against Barcelona in the first Clasico of the Primera Division season. He earned much praise for his performance, which was capped with an exquisite throughball to tee up Cristiano Ronaldo for his second goal in the 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp on Sunday. But despite largely struggling for form this season, the former Werder Bremen midfielder insists he is not motivated by his critics.

"I don't have to prove anything to anyone," he said. "I do not play football to prove something to someone, but because I enjoy football."
