Owen set for United start against CSKA Moscow

Michael Owen looks set to start for Manchester United in their Champions League meeting with CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford this evening.

United can book their spot in the knockout stages of the competition with a win, and with Wayne Rooney expected to sit out after the birth of his first child, Owen is expected to be given a rare start.

The former Liverpool, Newcastle and Real Madrid striker has been linked with a possible return to the England fold, after impressing as a substitute for United and scoring a fine goal in the Carling Cup against Barnsley.

But the 29-year-old maintains that Manchester United is his focus.

"England is something I don't really think about," Owen said. "It is probably something people talk about a lot more than I think about really.

"The last squad I was in was over a year ago now. I have played for England 89 times and I would love to play for England again. But I am concentrating on playing for Manchester United. I genuinely go to bed thinking that I have got to play well the next day and win games for Manchester United, not that if I score or play well I might get picked for England."
