Owen Has England Hopes

Manchester United striker Michael Owen is remaining hopeful that he can add to his 89 international caps won with England although he has not had anything to do with the national side for the last two years. Fabrio Capello has not really given the United man much of a chance since he took over three years ago, the last time Owen played for England was three months into the Italians reign as boss.  But now Owen is completely recovered from a groin problem and hopes that Capello sees that he still has something to offer the England team. Owen’s major problem is that even if he was recalled to the squad, he would still be behind Wayne Rooney, Jermaine Defoe and Darren Bent in the pecking order. Owen said: "I've got 89 caps so far. I played for England for many years, starting when I was 18. "I played basically right the way through until about two years ago, which was my last game. So hopefully I will play for them again one day, you never know."
