OT To Get New Pitch In Summer

04 January 2013 15:22
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Manchester United will have a new pitch laid in the summer as the current one has become too heavy.

In fact, the pitch has become so heavy to play on; Darren Fletcher is missing games because he cannot play on it.

Fletcher has been missing from the Christmas and New Year fixtures; this comes after a spell last month when he played four matches in two weeks.

But during the festive games, Fletcher has hardly played, just one appearance as a sub late on in the Boxing Day Game with Newcastle.

Ferguson told the Manchester Evening News: "The pitches over the last few weeks have not suited Darren.

"They are really heavy pitches. Unfortunately, Old Trafford seems to have collapsed in the last two weeks.

"We have had six great years out of the pitch. Our groundsman, Tony Sinclair, has done a fantastic job. But it is looking tired now and I think we will have a new pitch in the summer."
