Family heritage: Kasper Schmeichel has impressed at Notts County[LNB]It felt like a giantkilling. But to see the two famous figures in Notts County's camp chatting in the foyer of the DW Stadium on Tuesday night, it was perhaps no surprise the League Two club had just knocked out Wigan.[LNB]Notts director of football Sven Goran Eriksson was deep in conversation with Peter Schmeichel, whose goalkeeper son Kasper produced a performance worthy of the family name to help his side earn an FA Cup fifth-round trip to Fulham.[LNB]'It was good to have my dad here,' said 23-year-old Kasper, who was at Wembley for all three of Dad's FA Cup triumphs with Manchester United. [LNB]'He comes to as many games as he can. We had a chat when I signed myfirst contract. He asked me what capacity would I like him as, and Isaid I wanted him as my dad. I didn't want to sacrifice my relationshipwith him.[LNB] 'I've watched what he used to do but I watch a lot of keepers.'[LNB]Leaving Manchester City for a club three rungs down the football ladder might not be everybody's idea of a wise career move, but Schmeichel Jnr added: 'I fought for two years to get away from Man City to play football.[LNB]'I could easily have stayed and lived the life, but I wasn't interested. I love football.[LNB]'I was so lucky to have been allowed to go with my dad to training and to see the likes of Giggs, Beckham, Cantona and Keane, and their passion for the game. [LNB]'It rubbed off on a kid of my age. Going to Notts County was a drop down but for me it's not a sacrifice. It's better than sitting and doing nothing.'[LNB] Wigan 0 Notts County 2: Eriksson's in heaven as Magpies fly through£2m or bust!
