No Truth In Chris Foy Rumours

03 October 2012 06:49
The Premier League have denied that referee Chris Foy will be refereeing a league two match this weekend because of the rant made by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fergie was not too happy with the Merseyside based official and aimed some criticism at him after the home defeat to Tottenham.

He blasted Foy for rejecting two penalty appeals and only playing four minutes of stoppage time.

This weekend Foy takes charge of the  clash between Accrington and Rochdale .

But Premier League bosses insist Foy has not been demoted and they see absolutely nothing wrong with his performance at Old Trafford.

Spokesman Phil Dorward told the Daily Star: “There is absolutely no truth in suggestions Chris has been demoted or punished in some way.

“The fact is it is his turn to officiate at a League game this weekend.

“Chris has refereed more Premier League games than most this season and there is a rota system in place.

“We have been delighted with the standard of Chris’s performances. He’s having a good season.”
