Mourinho to bolster defensive options with Ligue 1 Brazilian

Jose Mourinho appears set to strengthen his defensive cover with the right-back area seemingly of particular concern. Jose is looking to add cover and competition for the 26-year-old Italian Matteo Darmian. Premier League clubs have exploited the right-back weakness with Darmian not always being solid and injuries compounding that fragility.

The 22-year-old Fabinho is a versatile young player player, capable of playing as a fullback on both sides of the pitch with Monaco using the player as a right-back. Reports in the Daily Star today echo the thoughts of Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli who boldly claims the Brazilian international will be a Red Devil soon.

The Brazilian joined Monaco in 2013 on loan before transferring to the club in 2015. The story of his potential transfer to Old Trafford first broke last week with a £22million bid thought to be in the pipeline as reported by The Sun on Sunday.

Mourinho also has some familiarity with the players qualities as he made a loan appearance for Real Madrid in 2013. Mourinho also shares the same agent as the Brazilian in Jorge Mendes and the player is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford. Fabinho made 47 appearances for Monaco last season, contributing a very respectable 8 goals in all competitions.
