Manchester United have been linked with a move for Croatia Under 21 star Milan Badelj.

Dubbed the 'new Luka Modric', Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Badelj could make a £9million summer switch to Old Trafford, according to reports in his homeland.

The 21-year-old has come to the fore since Modric left for Tottenham Hotspur nearly two years ago, scoring 11 in 28 appearances this season.

Inter Milan, Lyon and Bundesliga high flyers Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with the 6ft 1in playmaker.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly received favourable scouting briefs on the asthmatic player, but a chastening recent experience with eastern European recruits.
