Manchester City legend Mike Summerbee has become the latest high-profile figure to call for an end to the 'Munich' chanting that has returned to sullly the club's reputation.[LNB]City fans at Blackburn last Monbay once again referred to Manchester United fans as 'Munichs' in a song designed to celebrate their team's recent FA Cup semi-final win over their neighbours.[LNB] Distress: Chants celebrating the Munich air disaster were heard at Manchester City's match with Blackburn[LNB]Ahead of their clash with West Ham, Summerbee told the Manchester City match programme: 'On the way to Wembley [for the semi-final] I was stopped by fans from sides for autographs, which is great and is a pleasure.[LNB]'But there were a couple of City fans who referred to United fans as 'Munichs' and that is anything but great.[LNB]'There was much more of the same at Blackburn and it was frankly not worthy of our great fans who, remember, went to Old Trafford on the 50th anniversary of the tragedy and won worldwide acclaim for their adherence to the minutes's silence.[LNB] Great expectations: City fans won much praise after their immaculate minute silence to mark the Munich 50th anniversary[LNB]'Football is a game and there should be respect for some great players who died so horribly. We lost [former goalkeeper] Frank Swift in the crash and others not connected with either club were killed.[LNB]'But even that is not the real point.[LNB]'There is no place for such hideous chants in the City songbook. Please, if you know anyone who sings these songs, implore them to stop.'[LNB]It is understood that Summerbee was asked by City staff to include the comments in his column. The club board and owners in Abu Dhabi hope that the legend's influence will help stamp out a trend that has caused such disquiet at Eastlands that chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak telephoned chief executive Garry Cook this week to discuss the issue.[LNB]It is now expected that other figures at City - including semi-final goalscorer YaYa Toure - will speak about the issue ahead of the FA Cup Final against Stoke on May 14.[LNB] Shame those who believe 'Munich' is a laugh - vile chants embarrass us allManchester City chairman Khaldoon urges end to fans' sick Munich chantsYou degrade City: Icon Bell hits out at fans for sick Munich chanting All the latest Manchester City news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: Frank Swift Places: Munich
