Teddy Sheringham has been impressed by Marcus Rashford's attitude and aptitude since exploding onto the scene at Manchester United.
Seventeen years since the former England striker left an indelible mark at United, the teenage academy graduate is quickly making his own impression.
Sheringham's stoppage-time equaliser helped United towards the most remarkable of comeback wins against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final and, while yet to get anywhere near such heights, few will forget Rashford's start to life at United.
Thrown in against FC Midtjylland following a warm-up injury to Anthony Martial, the 19-year-old marked his debut with a brace in a 5-1 win - a performance bettered days later when netting another double as Arsenal were downed 3-2.
Rashford has started every match since and his star rose even further last time out, scoring the winner in the Manchester derby - the kind of performance that has impressed Sheringham
"He does have something about him, without a doubt," the former England striker, who turned 50 on Saturday, told Press Association Sport.
"He seems to have been unearthed from nowhere at Manchester United - not a lot of talk about him.
"When Michael Owen came in all those years ago, I think a lot of people knew about him beforehand and were expecting him to come on the scene and just explode. That's exactly what he did.
"With Rashford, he seems to have come from nowhere and he definitely knows where the net is. It is fantastic to have another one coming through the ranks.
"He has got a bit of pace, gets in behind, but just being at the right place at the right time is a knack for any striker.
"You can teach it but if you have that born into you, it's a lovely knack to have.
"He seems to be scoring all types of goals at the moment, which is great to see."
Such displays have been a timely shot in the arm for United and means they could yet end a turbulent campaign in the top four.
They entered the weekend sixth in the Premier League standings, with West Ham and a point all that split them from rivals City in the final Champions League berth.
Manuel Pellegrini's side have struggled this term but Sheringham, speaking at the Wembley leg of Carlsberg's UEFA Euro 2016 trophy tour, makes them favourites ahead of his former clubs.
"Another one of my old teams West Ham are vying for that spot," he said. "It is a funny old situation for me.
"You'd like to think that the experience of Manchester United would get them into the top four.
"But West Ham are playing with such composure at the moment and belief and confidence that it could be their position as well.
"Obviously Manchester City will have something to say about that as well. They are a formidable team with outstanding players, so it makes it exciting for that little slot."
