Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand warned by Sir Alex Ferguson after Liverpool error

Ferdinand was caught out during Sunday's 2-0 loss to Liverpool, when Fernando Torres opened the scoring, and it is not the first time the 30-year-old has been at the centre of defensive errors this season. [LNB]Last month the 30-year-old was responsible for Manchester City's 90th minute equaliser, which fortunately for him was overshadowed by Michael Owen's winner seven minutes later, and he was also criticised for a series of errors during England's recent matches against Holland and Ukraine. [LNB]Not confirming or denying whether Ferdinand would start for United against Blackburn this weekend, Ferguson said the most important thing was for his centre back to rediscover the form he has shown in the past. [LNB]"I don't know if it's over-confidence, (but) I think there's always been a casual part of Rio's game, ever since he was a kid," Ferguson said. "That casualness has been an advantage to him at times and at other times, particularly in his younger days, it was a weakness. [LNB]"He has to get good form - that's an important issue for the coach to pick the right team. In defence you've maybe got more options than other positions - he'll need to get his form right."[LNB]Should Ferdinand get rested this weekend it is likely that Ferguson will bring Jonny Evans in to partner Nemanja Vidic.
