Manchester United's Paul Scholes insists winning the Carling Cup is a priority for him

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes claims he wants to win the Carling Cup as much as any other trophy and denies it is a second rate competition.[LNB]Clubs have tended to play weakened teams over the years in the League Cup with the focus more on performing in the Premier League or achieving success in Europe or FA Cup.[LNB]At this stage, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to play a less than full strength team at Scunthorpe United in Wednesday night's third round tie and will look to give senior players such as Michael Owen valuable game time. But it is in our nature to want to win every game.[LNB]'Winning trophies is all about getting to the later stages ofcompetitions and having big games at the end of them.
