Manchester United's Jonny Evans set to start as Rio Ferdinand struggles for fitness

Ferdinand returned to Sir Alex Ferguson's side for last week's victory at Tottenham after being ruled out for much of the early part of the campaign but missed the midweek Champions League trip to Istanbul with a groin strain. While the injury is not thought to be serious, Ferdinand is rated as a serious doubt for the visit of Manchester City. [LNB]Evans is likely to be Ferguson's preferred first reserve, rather than Wes Brown, after an assured performance at Besiktas alongside Nemanja Vidic.
