Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will fight for a place in the semi finals of the Carling Cup tonight in a repeat of last season's final.

Both sides are expected to make changes from the weekend and give some younger and fringe players a chance.

Live Match Commentary

Jonny Evans and John O'Shea are still doubtful for the Old Trafford outfit, while Rio Ferdinand (back) and Owen Hargreaves (knee) remain on the sidelines.

Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to opt for a youthful starting line up with Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda both pushing Michael Owen for the strikers positions.

Rafael da Silva is also in line to start at right back, giving veteran Gary Neville a needed rest.

Harry Redknapp confirmed that Michael Dawson and Sebastien Bassong will be his centre-back partnership, with Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and Ledley King (hamstring) still out.

Nico Kranjcar is cup-tied, Carlo Cudicini (pelvis, wrist) is a long-term absentee while Luka Modric (fractured fibula) is not far away from a return to action.

Robbie Keane is expected to start, after sitting out most of the Aston Villa game at the weekend, as are other players on the Spurs fringe.

Redknapp said: "We've players who need matches - the likes of Alan Hutton, Gareth Bale and Jermaine Jenas - so we'll change a few around and freshen things up a bit."
