Manchester United to Make Swoop for Messi

Manchester United are rumoured to be prepared to delve into the transfer market to sign none other than Lionel Messi this summer.

The Argentinean magician has not had the best of seasons with his club out of the Champions League in the quarter final stage and losing the Copa del Rey final to Real Madrid. They now only have the La Liga title to fight for and they are currently sitting in second four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid and many are claiming that Messi’s best form is behind him.

With Barcelona’s transfer ban being suspended for the summer, they will be free to buy and sell players. Andres Iniesta has called on the club to keep Messi as he believes he is integral to the club’s future success. "I have no doubts about Messi," Iniesta told El Mundo Deportivo. He continued by saying, "He could not be better anywhere else other than here and Barca will not find another player like him."

Even though United don’t yet have a permanent manager, it seems as though the Glazer family who owns the club, want a marquee signing to begin a new era at Old Trafford.

Both Manchester City and PSG have also been linked with the forward recently, however both have previously stated that they do not want to spend extravagantly this summer.
