Manchester United to launch £16 million bid to land Luis Fabiano

Having lost out to Real Madrid in the race to sign Karim Benzema earlier this week, Sir Alex Ferguson has had to reassess his options and now considers Brazilian forward Fabiano the ideal candidate. According to the Mirror, the 28-year caught Ferguson's eye during last month's Confederations Cup but the Scot faces competition from AC Milan who are reported to have already made an opening bid of £13 million after they were snubbed by Wolfsburg star Edin Dzeko. Should the deal come down to finances, United will have the financial capability to outbid their Italian rivals having spent just £16 million of the £80 million acquired for Cristiano Ronaldo when he moved to Real Madrid last month. With a goalscoring void to fill, United have also been linked with making a move for Real's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who has been told by the Spanish side he does not feature in the club's plans to re-establish their 'Galacticos era'. The Holland international, who only joined Real in January of this year, is valued at £17 million and is also a target for Galatasaray and Wolfsburg.
