The English forward Harry Kane who is widely tipped to become a superstar of the future has been told to make the next step and join Manchester United but only if they can guarantee that he will be the ‘main man’ of Louis van Gaal’s team.

Harry Kane surprised many to become a Premier League sensation, keeping established names out of the Spurs side on his way to becoming an invaluable member of the first team. To cap off a remarkable season the player also picked up the PFA Young Player of the Year award as well as a nomination for the main award.

The 21-year-old who enjoyed a breakthrough season not only earned his first senior cap and goal but also a place in the team of the U-21’s attempt to lift the European Championship crown later in the summer.

The England man is expected to move on from Spurs who finished fifth in the league with links to a big money move to Old Trafford raising the possibility of Champions League football.

Fabrice Muamba who himself played for the England U-21s has warned Kane against jumping ship unless he is guaranteed first team action or risk doing harm to his long-term future.

Muamba said to the Express: “There is no point in going to United if you’re not going to be the main man,

“At Spurs, he is the No1 player, he is the main guy right now. Unless he is sure that he is going to be the main man at United I would advise him to stay at Spurs and improve his career.”

"It will be tough for Harry next season. To do what he has done in the Premier League year in, year out, takes a very strong talent. So we can assess Harry Kane much better next season to see where we are in terms of progress or whether he is a one-hit wonder."

Muamba retired from his professional football career after suffering a cardiac arrest in 2012 the the FA Cup quarter-final tie between Spurs and Bolton.
