Manchester United are lining up a move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a number of attack minded midfielders to eventually replace Paul Scholes, however the Italian club's £40m valuation for the Chilean could prove a stumbling block.
Also with Fergie comparing United youngster Nick Powell to a young Paul Scholes, he may decide to hold off from making any big money signings.
“Nick Powell is going to be a really good player," said Sir Alex.
“He has a great temperament, is two-footed and quick.
“He is a good physical specimen and has terrific vision. We hope Powell fills Paul Scholes’ boots."
