Manchester United target demands big money transfer

United have been linked with a number of centre-backs over the past season with perhaps Mats Hummels being the most high profile but with that deal seemingly dead in the water attention has switched to other candidates. Veran of Real Madrid was the subject to a cheeky double swoop involving him and Gareth Bale and Nicolas Otamendi is also in the frame.

The 27-year-old Argentine Nicolas Otamendi is reported to have held talks with Valencia bosses to ensure a massive £36.4million move to Manchester United happens this summer. Valencia want to keep hold of their star centre-back and are not keen to entertain bids to lure the player away for anything less than their valuation.

Otamendi has decided to take matters into his own hands and hold crunch talks over his future with a view to lubricate the wheels for a United approach in the coming weeks.

Otamendi only joined Valencia in 2014 where he has made 35 league appearances and scored 6 goals in La Liga. Valencia picked Otamendi up from Porto for just 12 million euros so it is easy to see why another club would be concerned at such a hugely inflated transfer valuation.

The defender has won the Primeira Liga on three occasions with Porto as well as the Europa League in 2010-11.
