Manchester United star primed to leave Old Trafford?

Controversial France and Manchester United left back Patrice Evra has hinted that his time at Old Trafford may be coming to an end.

The five time Premier League winner once again found himself at the centre of the controversy surrounding the French national team after a rather gung-ho interview with French football show Téléfoot in which he berated French journalists including ex-France left back Lizarazu.

French press are up in arms regarding the interview but it's Evra's comments in the closing stages of the interview that will interest Manchester United fans the most. The final question asked to Patrice was weather or not he was worried that he still hasn't signed a new deal at the Premier League champions. Evra replied as follows:

"No, not at all. It's personal. It's not Manchester (United) that don't want me to sign a new contract. This whole thing is personal. Manchester United's dream is that I finish my career there, but this is something personal."

The reported continued to ask, “You can't say anything else on the matter?”.

“No.” replied Patrice.

It is thought that the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson has had a big part to play in regards to whether Evra signs a new deal at the club or not. And if Evra is indeed intent on leaving Manchester sooner rather than later David Moyes & Ed Woodward will have to work hard during the winter and summer transfer windows to bring in a world class replacement, or at least a replacement with the potential to be world class.
