Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has added fuel to the Otamendi to Old Trafford fire by favoriting a tweet suggesting his compatriot could join him in the Premier League next season.
United boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to bring in defensive talent after a season that has seen his personnel at the back, including Rojo, ravaged by injuries.
The 25-year-old has been a favourite amongst fans since his move to United from Sporting Lisbon last summer and has been happy to communicate with supporters via social media, not least when fans ask about his international teammate Nicolas Otamendi.
The defender recently joined up with the rest of the Argentina squad, which includes Otamendi, as preparations get under way for the upcoming Copa America tournament. And now United fans have been asking Rojo to convince the Valencia player to join him in Manchester.
It appears Rojo is happy to play along, as he favourited a tweet from a fan that read: "Make sure you talk to @Notamendi30 and tell him to finish up his deal with @ManUtd quickly."
However, Rojo gave the biggest hint yet that the highly-rated defender could be set for a move to United as he once again favourited a tweet from a fan, this time showing the pair together and commenting 'United next season Marcos ??'.
Of course this is in no way shape or form concrete evidence that Otamendi will be signing for the Red Devils, but in an era when a player's communications with fans and media is closely marshalled by agents and PR firms, a player's social media activities may be the back door to knowing a little more about what's going on.
