Manchester United Set To Sign Young German Midfielder Lars Bender

Manchester United target young German midfielder Lars Bender, but join a long list of clubs around Europe who are all desperate for his signature. Sir Alex Ferguson will however, wait until the summer to get his man.

Fergie has identified the midfield as an area he wishes to strengthen, with Paul Scholes set to hang up his boots at the end of the season. Manchester United have long been linked with midfield reinforcements, and the Bayer Leverkusen player, rated at £12million is his ideal target.

The 23 year old midfielder has been in good form for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this season, and has begun to attract a number of interested suitors. Bender has enjoyed steady progress at the BayArena over the past three seasons and is now a regular in Joachim Low’s German national team set-up.

Lars Bender is a young and energetic, box to box midfielder who's tireless running has been of great use to Leverkusen this season, and it’s no surprise that a number of Europe’s elite clubs would be taking an interest in the Bavarian born youngster.

Bender has made 103 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and has helped the club to two top four finishes in the past three seasons. He has also collected ten international caps for Germany already.

The 23 year old would fit in well at United with his experience in Germany, whilst his age will ensure he follows a similar trend of transfer business lately at Old Trafford.
