Manchester United ready to break the bank to secure Arsenal target

Manchester United are reportedly ready to 'break the bank' in their pursuit of Arsenal target and Argentina’s World Cup star Angel Di Maria.

The winger is currently with Argentina in Brazil but has been ruled out of a semi-final clash with the Netherlands and looks unlikely to be ready for the final if his team-mates can beat the Dutch and progress.

Adding to his World Cup woes, Di Maria faces an uncertain future at current club Real Madrid with Los Blancos looking to sign Colombian starlet James Rodriguez with potential funds from Di Maria's sale. The winger himself has expressed his uncertainty of staying at Madrid, saying: “I don't know if I'll stay at Real Madrid, we'll see what happens.”

Spanish papers such as AS and La Decima has suggested that the player – who played an integral role in Madrid's Champions League win last season – is planning to leave the club with the players agent Jorge Mendes trying to secure a deal with Premier League giants Manchester United.

Arsenal are also being heavily linked with the versatile winger but Arsene Wenger may be reluctant to pay a reported fee of 60 million Euros. United and Arsenal could also face competition from French Champions Paris Saint Germain, as reported by AS today.

United have already secured the signings of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera for around £60 million and show no signs of slowing down their summer spending, being linked with a host of world class talents from across Europe's top leagues, including Juventus and Chile star Arturo Vidal.
