Manchester United & Moyes handed tricky start

Football fans up and down the country heralded the release of the Premiership and League football fixtures this week, and for many this is acknowledged that the official countdown to the season has now officially begun.

All eyes will be on David Moyes when he walks out of the tunnel to take his seat at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium for United’s opening match of the new season. Even though Swansea’s form tailed off miserably last season after they achieved success in the League Cup final, they are acknowledged as being a tough opponent on their own turf and Laudrup will want his team to maintain that reputation. A 1-1 draw looks a realistic outcome again this year.

Moyes will then face two formidable opponents back to back when Chelsea comes to Old Trafford followed by a trip to Moyes’ nemesis club Liverpool. Chelsea are sure to give Moyes a tough game with Mourinho determined to make his mark in his first real challenge back in the English Premiership. United will be hoping their usually good record at Anfield can carry on for Moyes’ sake but he will take nothing for granted. In theory, it is not inconceivable that United will be making their customary slow start and after three games they may well be struggling. This will probably be a good time to get your money on United to win the Premier League as their odds are bound to drift after this tough start.

Moyes has already splashed the cash with Varela joining the Red Devils and there is hot speculation that a high profile Spanish midfielder will join Varela; whether this is Fabregas or Thiago remains to be seen. The battle between the Manchester clubs is sure to descend into a fascinating debacle guaranteed to keep football fans glued to their TVs and radios (or smartphones!). Who do you think will be Moyes’ next signing?
