Manchester United Might Actually have The Best Squad In The Premier League

Manchester United have not been performing nearly as well as expected with the money spent in the summer transfer window. This indifferent form could probably be because Louis van Gaal has had very few chances to choose a full strength yet with everyone more or less fully fit, The Red Devils are looking like the most potent side around. Below is a look at why it looks that way:

Goalkeeper- David de Gea has been head and shoulders above the rest with point blank saves, outrageous stretches and superhuman anticipation. He is quite easily United’s player of the season thus far as his shifts have been pivotal to the team’s progression especially as they have been in the line of fire pretty often.

Defenders- This part of the Manchester United side is the one that has improved the most after a rather shaky start where less experienced players like Tyler Blackett were tasked with providing solidity. A look at the defensive unit now will reveal a stable and fast centre half pairing with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. The wing back positions are occupied by probably one of the best young talents around in Luke Shaw and an evergreen Antonio Valencia on the right continually providing blistering counter attacks. Not many if any other teams can boast of such a fast and talented defensive unit.

Midfielders- The addition of the mercurial Angel di Maria and the versatile Daley Blind to a force already incorporating Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Adnan Januzaj and Michael Carrick has created a midfield of great quality with an all important balance between attacking prowess and defensive duties. The pace of di Maria and Januzaj alongside the creativity of Juan Mata ensures a prolific axis capable of leaving any defence reeling.

Forwards- Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are certainly strikers who have been around the block pretty successfully. All three are at relatively prime stages in their careers. They all have bags of experience and with their pace and movement and cutting edge finishing any defence would not fancy coming up against them. Given that the other top teams generally rely on particular individuals like Sergio Aguero for Manchester City and Diego Costa for Chelsea, the Manchester United strike force certainly qualifies as the most dependable.

One does hope that the Red Devils can live up to their billing as their squad is one of the best if not the best in the Barclays Premier League.
