Manchester United midfielder Scholes signals retirement plan

Paul Scholes has hinted for the first time that he may retire at the end of the season and labelled fellow veteran Ryan Giggs as the best Manchester United player ever.[LNB] Scholes (right) has played just 12 times for United this season. [LNB]'I wouldn't say I am playing some of my best football,' said Scholes.[LNB] 'I don't always feel I am making as much of a contribution as I'd like to.'[LNB]Asked about whether he had thought about bowing out when his contract expires at the end of the season, Scholes, 35, said: 'You do think about it. I'm not too sure.[LNB] 'I'll just carry on with the way it's going at the moment and we'll see what happens come the end of the season.'[LNB] Scholes will be in the squad as United travel to West Ham today while his long-standing colleague Giggs will almost certainly play.[LNB] Scholes said: 'The secret of Ryan's success is his sheer professionalism.
