The Brazilian ruptured his cruciate ligament during the 3-0 win over West Ham last month and went under the knife in Portugal.
He is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow (Tuesday).
Portugese specialist Jose Carlos Noronha said: 'The operation was a success and without any complications. If all goes well in his rehabilitation then he could return to training without any restrictions in six months.'
