The 20-year-old striker has been in the news recently with speculation the Serbian could be joining a Premier League club in the summer and with Newcastle looking particularly interested.

News this morning however seems to suggest that despite a £15million fee being agreed to take the player to Newcastle that United have entered the race with the player looking certain to move to Old Trafford.

Mitrovic who plays in the Belgian football league has scored some 20 goals this term with the young player considered to be one of Europe’s exciting young prospects with a report in the mail suggesting the player seeks Champions League football and this as well as personal terms could prove a stumbling block to a move to Newcastle.

Aleksandar Mitrovic was named in the top 10 talents under 19 by select UEFA reporters.

The report in the Mail goes on to suggest that Mitrovic is being ‘watched’ by Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Swansea with the Metro now saying that Manchester United have come in to effectively make the player theirs in the summer.

Mitrovic is already a full Serbian international, making his debut in 2013. Mitrovic is expected to replace Falcao according to the Metro who cite Tuttomercatoweb.
