Louis van Gaal's Manchester United have opened talks with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of highly rated Brazilian defender Marquinhos.
It's no secret that the Old Trafford club have been searching high and low for a centre-back to shore up their frail defence and it seems they've plumbed for the PSG youngster, who joined the French side from AS Roma in 2013 for €31.4 million.
French site le10sport are reporting that talks between United and PSG have already gotten under way, the Red Devils are hopeful the player will help push through a deal sooner rather than later after falling down the clubs pecking order with the arrival of compatriot David Luiz.
The fact that PSG paid such a large sum of money for the 20-year-old means they'll want 100% of that back, although with money no object at United these days that shouldn't be a problem if negotiations progress. The defender has made a total of 48 appearances for PSG.
