Former England and Manchester United captain Bryan Robson will begin work as Thailand coach next week after signing a four-year contract. The 52-year-old replaces Peter Reid, who left last month to become assistant coach at Stoke, and will arrive in Bangkok next Thursday before beginning work the following day.   Robson's first task will be to guide Thailand to a place in the Asian Cup finals in Qatar in 2011, starting with home and away games against Singapore next month.   Robson's previous managerial experience has included spells at Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Bradford and West Brom and Thai FA president Worawi Makudi is confident he is capable of continuing the successful work started by Reid.   'I studied his profile before I decided to approach him to become Thailand's national coach,' Worawi said in the Bangkok Post.   'He helped Middlesbrough reach the FA Cup and the League Cup finals. He was England's assistant coach during the European Championship in 1996 when England lost to Germany on penalties in the semi-finals.   'I'd like Thai fans to give him a chance to prove his ability.'
