Reports on Portuguese website A Bola claim that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will make a €35 million offer to bring Dortmund starlet Mario Gotze to Old Trafford to help provide some 'magic' in midfield.

German side Borussia Dortmund face an up-hill battle to keep Gotze in Germany after reports he would favour a move to England.

Although the players agent Volker Struth has moved to play down recent transfer speculation.

"Mario has no intention of leaving in 2013. Therefore, the topic is not interesting,” he said in German newspaper Bild.

Manchester United and Premier League rivals Arsenal are both keen on the player after his impressive start in the Bundesliga. With The Daily Mail reporting that the player is a long-term target of Arsene Wenger's. Spanish giants Real Madrid are also thought to be interested.

If Gotze were to join Arsenal he would play alongside fellow German Per Mertesacker at the Emirates Stadium. But it is Manchester United who now lead the race to sign the 20-year-old as Ferguson looks for a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes.
