Manchester United hand trial to Chicago Fire keeper Sean Johnson
Magic Johnson: Chicago Fire keeper Sean[LNB]Manchester United are to take a closer look at USA goalkeeper Sean Johnson after granting him a trial next month. [LNB]The Chicago Fire keeper will head to Manchester in December during the MLS close season. [LNB]The 6ft 4in tall, 22-year-old Johnson featured against United in a pre-season friendly in July, which United won 3-1.[LNB]Johnson made his international debut in January this year and could become the second American keeper to join the Red Devils. [LNB]USA's current No 1 Tim Howard moved to Old Trafford in 2003 from the MetroStars, now known as New York Red Bulls. [LNB]Howard made 45 appearances for the Red Devils in four years at the club and has since established himself as one of the Barclays Premier League's most reliable keepers at Everton. [LNB]United have strong links to the States, with the club's owners, the Glazer family, based in Florida.[LNB] Born in the USA: American keeper Tim Howard (right) joined United in 2003[LNB] Fellow American Jonathan Spector also made three appearances for United after joining as a teenager in 2003.
