Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has ear-marked Italy and Juventus hardman Giorgio Chiellini as the man to replace Nemanja Vidic should the Serb leave Old Trafford this summer.[LNB]Converted centre-back Chiellini has seen his stock rise markedly since moving into the middle from his original full-back role. Ferguson is hopeful a bid of £25m will be enough to lure the defender away from Serie A. [LNB]The 25-year-old is one of the hottest properties in Italian football but is paid modestly compared with other leading lights. Chiellini's £1.7m-a-year contract has two years to run and a new deal has not been forthcoming.[LNB] Out with the old: Memenja Vidic is expected to quit Old Trafford this summer and his manager wants Juve's Giorgio Chiellini (left) as a replacement[LNB]Juventus are keen for a fresh cash injection to rebuild their team after a dreadful domestic and European campaign.[LNB]In summer 2009 they spent approaching £30m on Felipe Melo and Diego but both struggled to adapt to their new surroundings as Juve only finished seventh in Serie A and failed to get out of the group stage of the Champions League.[LNB]Vidic, meanwhile, has long let it be known that his family are unhappy in Manchester with Barcelona and AC Milan preparing moves.[LNB]United's rivals City, though, are also keen and hope a bumper payday across town might sway those close to the Serb.
