Manchester United Clyne deal at 'advanced' stage

A report in the Times reveals that Manchester United are in ‘advanced negotiations’ over agreeing a deal to bring the England right-back Nethaniel Clyne to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has long been linked as one of the more realistic transfers to Old Trafford with the player stalling on contract talks and United looking to be interested in the England international.

The player was being tracked by Liverpool where several of his team-mates from last season such as Lallana, lambert and Lovren were transferred but it looks like an increased bid of £18million will get United their target says the report.

Clyne has had an outstanding season for the Saints and a breakthrough one for England where he has claimed the right-back position for his own. Van Gaal admitted that he was forced into making the Memphis Depay deal happen more quickly with PSG entering the race to sign the Dutch winger and United seem keen to do business early rather than risk missing out on the players they want in the window. The report suggests that club sources also have a deal in player for Gundogan although there is no mention of Mats Hummels.

With 36 appearances in all competitions under his belt this term he has seen plenty of action for Southampton as well as providing a great shop window to demonstrate his talents. The player joined the newly-promoted Southampton in 2012 from Crystal Palace where he had played since joining as a youth in 1999.
