Manchester United close to bringing in 20-year-old Internacional midfield star

Manchester United are close to signing Interacional's highly-rated midfielder Rodrigo Dourado after sending scouts to watch the 20-year-old.

Italian site TUTTOmercatoWEB report that the Red Devils are set to bring Brazilian Rodrigo Dourado to Old Trafford from Brazilian side Internacional. United are looking to complete a deal before the player signs a two-year contract extension with his club, Dourado's current deal runs until 2017.

Scouts from the Premier League side were sent to watch the midfielder, at the Louis van Gaal's request, and returned with positive reports.

United boss van Gaal is looking to add to his midfield options this summer, with Dourado ticking all of the Dutchman's boxes and being compared to veteran Michael Carrick.

Rodrigo made his debut with Internacional on 26 January 2012 in a Campeonato Gaúcho match against Cerâmica. Coming on as a 78th minute substitute for Guilherme Afonso Noe as Internacional lost 1–2. He then made his professional debut in the Brasileiro on 16 September 2012 against Recife. Playing 45 minutes as Internacional drew the match 2–2.

Rodrigo made his international club debut in the Copa Libertadores on 16 April 2015 against Universidad de Chile. He started the match and played the whole 90 minutes as Internacional won 4–0.
