Manchester United and Arsenal all time greatest - Who would win?

09 November 2013 09:06

A Manchester United and Arsenal fan have given The Mirror their greatest team of all time ahead of the much awaited game at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Arsenal’s Greatest Line-up

David Seaman was picked at the greatest Arsenal keeper and he certainly won a fair amount of silverware to support this. Despite his dodgy looking moustache and ponytail Seaman was instrumental to Arsenal’s success.

The back four consisted of Lee Dixon, Tony Adams, Sol Campbell and Kenny Sansom. This is a solid back four and Arsenal would wish they have the same quality in defence today.

In midfield there is David Rocastle, Patrick Vieira, Liam Brady and Robert Pires. A quality midfield but it won’t be long before the names Ramsey and Ozil will be in fans greatest Arsenal team of all time.

No surprises in attack with Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry. These were top quality players and with the striker shortage at the moment I’m sure Wenger wishes he had these two in his squad on Sunday.

Manchester United’s Greatest Line-up

No surprise in goal with Peter Schmeichel. One of the greatest keepers of his time and won everything with United. Dominated his area and organised the defence superbly.

In defence for United there is Garry Neville, Duncan Edwards, Paul McGrath and Dennis Irwin. Surprisingly no Rio Ferdinand, Garry Pallister or Jap Stam.

In midfield there is George Best, Bryan Robson, Bobby Charlton and of course Cristiano Ronaldo. David Moyes would be delighted to have these to choose from on Sunday with midfield being one of United’s current problems.

In attack there is Ryan Giggs and Eric Cantona. There are plenty to choose from for United’s attack but no mention for Andy Cole, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Tommy Taylor, Dennis Viollet or Denis Law.

Who would win between the two greatest line-ups? Is there anyone not included?

It would have been fantastic to see these two line-ups on Sunday but we still have the likes of Ozil, Ramsey and Cazorla for Arsenal and Van Persie, Rooney and Kagawa for United.
