Manchester City v Manchester United: Wayne Rooney not going to Real Madrid

Wayne Rooney, who has yet to prove his fitness for Saturday's derby against Manchester City at Eastlands - as do Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs - is reportedly a summer target for Real, who spent £80m to lure Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United to Madrid last June. [LNB]The 24 year-old is due to open talks over a new deal at United at the end of the season, with the club keen to replace the final two years of his existing contract. It always happens at this time of the season, but Wayne Rooney will be here next year."[LNB]Rooney returned to training on Thursday after a struggling with an ankle injury since limping out of the Champions League exit against Bayern Munich last week. [LNB]Ferguson admits, though, that he is yet to make a decision on his availability for tomorrow's game. The United manager is also waiting on news on Giggs (hamstring) and Ferdinand (groin). [LNB]He said: "Wayne has done some work for a couple of days now, but we will wait and see how he is before tomorrow?s game. [LNB]"Ryan and Rio are a bit behind Wayne with their work, though, because they were injured in the game a Blackburn on Sunday. They did some jogging on Thursday, but we will need to see how they progress.
