Manchester City, United and Chelsea target Real Madrid's Khedira

Manchester City are interested in signing Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira next summer in a £30 million deal. Khedira’s contract runs out at then end of next season and with the player reportedly unhappy Real Madrid may look to cash in on the 26-year-old.

Khedira joined Real Madrid from VFB Stuttgart in 2010 and 41 caps for Germany. He has been a key man for Ancelotti this season but has recently criticised the club for allowing Mesut Ozil to join Arsenal and saying he has been made a scapegoat in Madrid. Khedira would receive a significant pay rise if he decided on joining Manchester City although they are not the only Premier League team interested in his services.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen admirers with Mourinho having worked with the player while together at Real Madrid. Manchester United had a £34 million bid rejected by Real Madrid on transfer deadline and could return with an improved offer. United are in desperate need of quality midfield players and failed with a number of targets in the summer before landing Fellaini from Everton.

Mourinho is a keen admirer of Khedira and could make an offer in January to boost Chelsea’s title challenge. Chelsea are not short of options in attacking midfielders but Khedira would be seen as the ideal holding midfielder.

An offer in the region of £40 million should be enough to test Real Madrid who are still recovering from the record signing of Gareth Bale from Tottenham and already have Xabi Alonso in that position.
