Man Utd's Evra to pursue racist abuse claims

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned that defender Patrice Evra is determined to pursue allegations of racist abuse from Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, it was reported Tuesday.

Ferguson, speaking ahead of United's Champions League clash with Romanian team Otelul Galati on Tuesday, said Evra was "adamant" that he wanted to push for action against Uruguayan international Suarez.

France defender Evra has alleged Suarez repeatedly hurled racist insults at him during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Anfield. Liverpool and Suarez have strongly denied the claims.

"I spoke to Patrice and he is adamant he wants to follow it on," Ferguson was quoted by several newspapers as saying.

"It is not an easy one for us. Everyone knows Manchester United and Liverpool have great responsibilities in terms of things that happen on the field and Saturday was terrific.

"Both sets of fans were good, there was not any of that silly chanting we have had in previous years and the fans deserve praise for that.

"It is not something we would want to level against Liverpool anyway. But obviously Patrice feels aggrieved at what was said to him, so it rests in the hands of the FA now," Ferguson added.

Suarez denied making racist remarks at Evra on Sunday.

"I'm upset by the acusations (sic) of racism. I can only say that I have always respected and respect everybody. We are all the same," he wrote on his official Facebook page.

"I go to the field with the maximum illusion of a little child who enjoys what he does, not to create conflicts."
