Man United target Lewandowski to front new-look attack

Even hard-nosed United supporters would concede that the United attack is not all that it could be, certainly not all that it was expected to be. The loan arrival of Radamel Falcao should be paying dividends for a player with a reputation for being one of the best in the world but the Colombian has struggled to return to his best after his injury.

United are unlikely to make Falcao a permanent fixture at Old Trafford and instead reports this morning suggest that Louis van Gaal is looking to swoop for 26-year-old Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has made a total of 30 appearances for Bayern Munich and scored 13 goals since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

The report suggests that Lewandowski is unsettled at Bayern Munich and struggling to settle under Pep Guardiola with Man United very interested in offering the striker a fresh start in the Premier League. The report puts a valuation of £30million which seems reasonable for the Bundesliga top scorer of 2013-14.

Van Gaal will be keen to solve both defensive and striker issues in the summer but the pressing concern now will be holding onto a Champions League place with so many clubs around them who could spoil the party and what will be a disappointing defeat against the Swans.
