Manchester United are certainly not pulling any punches in the transfer market and are set to announce their next signing after terms have been agreed with the player. The report in the Daily Star which cites reports in Spain suggests that the Brazilian Dani Alves is ready for a move to Old Trafford once his contract with Barca expires after the Champions League final.

Alves has not reached agreement over a contract extension at the Camp Nou and claimed he had not been shown enough respect in negotiations:

“I may have two feet in the team but I've also got one foot, my body and nearly my head out of the club. I would like to stay here but not at any price. Not only in terms of money but in terms of respect. If I’m not show that respect, I’ll go to another club.”

The 32-year-old claimed that interests in keeping him at Barcelona only surfaced after FIFA placed a transfer ban on the club in January.

Louis van Gaal seems interested in taking the player as a free agent according to the report as were Liverpool although the later withdrew interest after they failed to qualify for a second Champions League campaign and concerns over his wage demands.

Alves could be the second signing for Manchester United in what promises to be a busy summer after the early capture of Memphis Depay.
