Man United Liverpool target open to Old Trafford move

You don’t often hear of transfers between Liverpool and Manchester United, in fact when did it last happen? 51 years ago apparently when Phil Chisnall went from United to the Reds. It’s been 77 years since a player went the other way. Yes, Raheem you could be following in the footsteps of Allenby Chilton who in 1938 quit Anfield for Old Trafford…

Well that aside and in the highly unlikely event of the two clubs doing any business any-time soon a certain Raheem Sterling did give the headline writers a peach despite their being a house-sized caveat in his remark.

A report in the Guardian confirms that the Liverpool forward is aware of interest from United and that he would be keen to work under Louis van Gaal although the player would be concerned about how such a transfer would be received by the fans…That’s quite an astute reading of the fierce rivalry between the two clubs and that Raheem Sterling would have to climb over dead bodies before that happened.

There is no doubting that United could offer the player the riches and the prospect of Champions League football but he is right that whilst you can give it consideration it’s not really an option, not unless the move is from another club at least.
