Man United Eyeing Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez?

Manchester United have made a swift £20 million bid for Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez, who is also being courted by Liverpool.

The Chilean winger fell down the pecking order at Barcelona last season under Gerardo Martino as the Catalans endured a rare barren season. With the club drafting in Luis Enrique as his replacement, it is being strongly suggested that he might get rid of deadwood from the team, and Sanchez might be among the ones who could face the axe.

His availability has attracted suitors and the likes of Juventus and Liverpool have already been linked with him. However, Manchester United have now jumped right in front of the queue by tabling a £20 million offer for the attacker, claim Metro. New manager Louis van Gaal, who is currently in Brazil with the Dutch national team, has identified Sanchez as a marquee signing. He has also asked United to press ahead and conclude the move before the World Cup begins, as he fears that his strong performances for Chile might attract more interested parties and could possibly drive up his value and start a bidding war.

With United making strides in this deal, can they tip domestic rivals Liverpool and Italian champions Juventus to the 25-year old's signature?
