Macheda back in contention
Federico Macheda is close to a return from injury and the Italian might find himself thrust straight back into first-team contention. With Michael Owen out for the season and Danny Welbeck loaned to Preston, Macheda's fitness has taken on a new importance. They are dropping off at the moment but we have got some encouragement with players coming back, said Ferguson. Macheda starts training with the first team again next week which is also good news, particularly considering the loss of Michael. He is a good player to have back.
