FEBIAN Brandy struck within the opening 45 seconds of Tuesday night's pre-season friendly to give United a cracking start against their Blues Star Conference opponents at Kenilworth Stadium. The Manchester-born striker took delivery of an inch-perfect through ball from Magnus Eikrem before comfortably placing the ball wide of Luton keeper Mark Tiler. Tom Cleverley doubled United's lead from the penalty spot in the ninth minute after George Pilkington had cynically felled the dangerous Brandy. Asa Hall headed over for the Hatters in the 12th minute but he made no mistake three minutes later when he put the finishing touch to Andy Burgess's low cross. Fine goalkeeping from Luton's Tiler, named man-of-the-match, and United counterpart Ron-Roberts Zieler ensured that the second half remained goalless as the Reds preserved their unbeaten record in four pre-season games. UNITED: Zieler; Simpson; Gill (R Brown 63); Chester (Wootton 65); De Laet; Gray; Eikrem; Hewson (Moffatt 83); Brandy (Stewart 46); Cleverley; Dudgeon (Ajose 75).
