Manchester United new boy Gabriel Obertan has been ruled out for the next six weeks after manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the £3m summer recruit has been plagued by a back injury for over a year and a half. The promising winger, 20, is yet to feature competitively in a United shirt since his arrival from French champions Bordeaux earlier this summer but the Old Trafford boss refuses to rush the highly-rated France Under-21 international into a swift return. 'He’s had a spine problem but I think he will be back in about a month to six weeks,' said Ferguson. 'He has been playing with this back injury for a year and a half and no-one thought about getting a scan.' 'We are taking our time with him because we want him back and 100 percent.' Obertan has been earmarked as one for the future in France and Ferguson agreed that he expects big things from the fleet-footed player. 'He is very quick, can play wide both sides and through the middle so he brings a real versatility to us,' Ferguson added. 'At 16 he was one of the outstanding talents in Europe. 'We expect big things from him.'
