According to The Sun, Tottenham had sanctioned an £18 million move for Tevez, whose two-year loan spell at Old Trafford this month. But Liverpool are poised to offer Tevez's owner Kia Joorabchian £26 million and pay the striker £160,000 a week. A source told the paper: "It seems amazing that Liverpool have the money to do this when you consider their owners are looking for funds. "But Spurs were told that Liverpool were going to get the deal done and that Tevez was very happy about it." Liverpool join Chelsea and Manchester City among six clubs who have already made firm expressions of interest to sign Tevez, who looks set to take over from Cristiano Ronaldo as the most talked about player as far as transfer gossip is concerned this summer. There is intense interest in where Tevez will move to when his two-year loan agreement at United expires at the end of this campaign. Manchester United Chief Executive Officer David Gill said earlier this week that the club wants to keep Tevez, and that a transfer fee of about £25 million is being discussed. Tevez's economic rights are owned by businessman Kia Joorabchian, and the player has technically been on loan from his company for two seasons. A transfer fee is payable if United wants to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent basis. 'The actual situation will be cleared up in early June,' Gill said. 'Carlos has done very well. We'd like him to stay, but the actual economic situation needs to be clarified.'
