Lindegaard out for five weeks

Manchester United have recalled goalkeeper Ben Amos from Oldham after Anders Lindegaard was forced to undergo a knee operation that will keep him out for five weeks. The Denmark international joined the Red Devils during the January transfer window and impressed in appearances in FA Cup wins over Southampton and Crawley Town. However, the 24-year-old has not been on the bench since that Crawley encounter, with no reason offered by Sir Alex Ferguson for his absence. It has now been confirmed Lindegaard will undergo knee surgery on Thursday that will keep him on the sidelines until the end of April. Under the circumstances, Ferguson felt he had little option other than to recall Amos to act as back-up to current number two Tomasz Kuszczak.
